Key Verse: Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (NIV)
You have been praying about this for a very long time. Weeks. Months. Years. You believed with all your heart that God was going to answer your request and reward you for such a dedicated heart in praying and desiring to see a great outcome and answer. You woke up every morning hoping and believing that today would be the day that an answer would come.
No answer came and your request had slipped into the unknown category of praying. Your heart sinks and your faith dwindles, even if just a little. You were so careful about how you prayed and the words you used. You made sure that you were in the right position of prayer and following the Word on prayer, but yet still no answer.
Have you felt this heartache? The heartache that comes when God says a simple “no” and leaves it at that. There is often no explanation to His no. There may be a time when down the road you will realize why it was a “no” then, because there was something bigger and better, but most often God just leaves it at no. It is like you are a child again having just asked and even pleaded with your mom or dad for a treat from the store and they shattered your little heart with “NO”. Yes, it even hurts as an adult when our Father says “no” to our request.
Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
One thing I have learned in my short existence is that “no” from God could mean momentarily or permanently. The thing is that God has this amazing plan for my life and for your life. He will not let any of His children be hurt because of a dream they have. We may never see the reason why he says “no”, but we can be sure that it is a good reason for it. Jeremiah 29:11 is also a great verse to remember when you get a no answer. “For I know the plans I have for you…”
You may have been praying for children; praying for years to have a baby of your own or more babies of your own. The next thing you know six years has passed and no babies have come or they have but you have not been able to keep them with you. Heart devastated and hope gone. Where is the comfort in that no? Ladies, I do not have an
answer for you. Each of us has different ways of finding our comfort and peace and you will have to explore that, but there are so many who are going through the same hurt as you and are willing to pray with and for you.
Lord, I do not understand the “no”. I want to trust that You have this amazing plan for giving me a no, but my heart is hurting and my hope is dwindling. Lord, give me strength and a hope again to get through this place in life. Show me someone that I can pray with and give me another desire in my heart.
