Deciding to Overcome

Do you ever just feel beaten down? Life isn’t necessarily bad. Nothing in particular is causing you to feel blue. You just feel beaten down. Life is hard. Every day is a day that you wake up and just want peace and fullness, not dread and fear.

Sweet friend, you are not alone.

Today, I want to explore some verses with you that will give you encouragement through feeling beaten down and help you to overcome it. This is a matter of choice and, through God’s Word, we have all the tools we need to be able to defeat the feelings that hold us down. At the end of this article I am going to share with you a prayer that helps me when I have a feeling of beaten down instead of fullness of God. Don’t skip to the end. Dig in with me first and be encouraged today.

First, You can’t find the fullness of God until you have accepted the love of God. “and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:19

God loves you no matter what you face each day. His overwhelming love fills all the spaces that are empty. His love will infiltrate the dark places of dread and fear, but you need to ask Him to do so.

I don’t want to wake up every day and walk through it as if I am a robot just completing tasks. I want to feel that my days are filled with encounters designed by  God and I have a chance to minister to a life in need of me. I don’t always know who that is or why, but God has a plan for each and every one of my days and the same is true for you as well.

Second, “For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.” John 1:16

As a daughter of the King, you already have the fullness of God living within you. It is up to you to mine for it and let it break free. You no longer have to live as a slave to your feelings. God give you the freedom to take control. His grace has set you free.

Finally, Giving your every day and every minute to God for His purpose allows you fullness in Him. “When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.” 1 Corinthians 15:28

You will begin to see God work in ways that you have never seen before. Your expectation will rest in God’s will for your minutes and not in what you are feeling or needing to accomplish. Allow God to be all in all throughout your life. You have a choice to make.

Friends, this is not an easy choice to make day in and day out. Your day may start out great and the choice to put God in all is easy. Then, something will happen that will sour your day. It is in that moment that you will have to make the hard choice to allow God to enter and take control or have your day ruined because of the bitter taste of life. This new thinking is a process and it takes practice. Thank goodness we serve such a gracious God that allows us more chances than we can count to try, try again.

I promised to share with you my prayer that I use when I am facing a choice in my day to let God be all in all. Here it is:

Lord, I need You in my every minute. Help me to really know Your love so that I may be full of your goodness. Refresh my mind of your grace when I am feeling less than what You created me to be. And, Lord, help me to give all things to You and be one who is subjected to You alone so that You are my all in all. Amen.

It’s short and simple, but effective. I pray Scripture into my life. The very Word of God. It is powerful.

Friend, I pray blessings over you today. May God speak to you in your minutes.
