This Veteran’s Day, we need to remember to thank all Veterans for their service. Give them a hug if you can and love on them for what they have done for us.
As a veteran myself, I was blessed with seeing men and women, every day, that lived out John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (NIV)
They put their lives on the line and some even paid the ultimate sacrifice, all so that we Americans can continue enjoying the freedom that we have enjoyed since this country was first established. You may not know, and I can never tell you, all that we, as veterans, did and survived, but, let me tell you, it takes a strong person to keep going.
As a veteran, I have seen the best and the worst of humanity, but I would not trade a moment of my time in the Army, or my time in Afghanistan, for anything in the world. God called me to serve in the military and I served until my body broke down and could not keep up with the requirements of daily service in the military. Most, if not all my fellow veterans, will tell you the same. We make up less than one half of one percent of the population in America, but there would not be an America without veterans.
Please remember to pray for all our veterans in your quiet time and thank them any time you see them, not just on Veteran’s Day. Let us remember that every day is Veteran’s Day for a veteran and say thank you to any that you meet.
Have a blessed day this Veteran’s Day and thank you to all my brothers and sisters who have and are or will serve this great nation of America.
Lord, we come with humble thanks for calling those hearts to serve their country. Many have given all to defend what You gave as a promise to Your people. We are free because of their bravery. Help us to remember all they have done and to thank them for their courage no matter the job they were given. Bless the lives of the men and women who have served and be with the family of the ones who didn’t get to come home. In Your Name, Amen.
