Faith Supplements and Soul Stretching Exercises

Our culture is fixated on exercise and a healthy dose of daily supplements.   It is a good fixation as the human body can decline rapidly – especially mine!   I was watching my public television annual membership drive. They were featuring Classical Stretch – Age Reversing Workouts[1] Now just because you think I am older and need this badly doesn’t mean you shouldn’t begin this process at your younger age. I rarely “succumb” to their offers but I weakened and one day a set of DVD’s arrived.  I am five days into this project and I feel like the former ballerina that has developed this program – sure I do!  Sweaty as my towel becomes I am sticking with it because it stretches my muscles and strengthens my balance.

Recently I found a blog that spoke of “stretching my soul”. I meditated for awhile on this phrase realizing it might mean increased risk and anxiety. That is when I “ran” to my Master and His word to find directions and encouragement for this spiritual exercise. I read Psalm 62:1 “My soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him”. Joshua 22:5 (latter part)”love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to Him; to keep His commands, to hold fast to Him and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul”.  Psalm 19:7 “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple”.

As I stretched my soul I added the seven Faith Supplements that God encourages us to include in our spiritual health routine. The first is [2]Moral Excellence + Knowledge + Self- Control + Patient Endurance + Godliness + Brotherly Affection and finally Love for Everyone, all found in 2 Peter 1:5-8.

[3]Oswald Chambers an early 20th Century Evangelist says this “God stretches and strains, and every now and again the saint says, ‘I cannot stand anymore.’ God does not heed, He goes on stretching till His purpose is in sight, then He lets fly. Trust yourself in God’s hands. Maintain your relationship to Jesus Christ by the patience of faith. ‘Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.”[4] Amen.

Dearest friend God’s Word refreshes, encourages; don’t neglect allowing Him to speak to you through His Living Word ~ Exercise your soul everyday and don’t forget His supplements!

I sign off with this May your ♥be open to the Lord this spring day, Nancy
