Don’t Give UP!

God wants us to listen to His Spirit on a daily basis, and even throughout the day, as difficult stretching moments arise, and in the midst of the mundane.” [1]

The Struggle of Gray Days ~

It was a gray day, rainy looking storm clouds lurking in the distance; dreadful and foreboding;  the same descriptive words we heard from our loved ones as they explained their current health needs. Oh dear friend when I heard these words I felt like I had been stabbed in the heart and left to die; for hours it seemed as if all spiritual power drained from my heart; I was in the process of giving up – waging war, essentially saying to God, “I know you raised Christ from the dead; but the fact is my problems are just too much for You and I need to deal with them by myself.” [2]

We Won’t Give Up ~

That morning I had shared this struggle with my husband who wisely encouraged me to remember our godly commitment….. We won’t give up praying!  I “chewed on” these words for awhile and unexpectedly the words to Solid Rock radiated throughout my soul….. On Christ the Solid Rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand, I still hear those beautiful words filling the rooms of my soul. Tears gushed from deep within as the words continued with…His oath, His covenant, and His blood support me in the whelming flood; when every earthly prop gives way, He then is all my Hope and Stay.

The “Whelming Flood” of Sorrow ~

The “whelming flood” of sorrow was so intense, that like Moses (Ex.17:12) I felt my arms of prayer were so tired I could no longer hold them up to God. I called a precious friend, shared my drowning soul with her; she prayed with me, after which I lifted my bowed head and shouted these words – I won’t give up ~ I can’t give up ~ You don’t want me to give up Lord ~ There is no way I’m giving up ~ Giving up does not glorify you my God! You God are my Hope and Stay!  Envision my godly friend providing me with a rock of comfort, holding up my hands so that I could remain unswerving before God. What a glorious picture of Jesus.

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand Isaiah 41:10. Sweet friend no matter what don’t give up!
